5. Finger Game
•
Hold up fingers and ask pupils to tell you the correct number. Ask: How many?
•
Say a number and ask pupils to hold up the correct number of fingers.
6. Max Says
•
Have pupils stand up. Make sure there is some distance between the pupils so that
they won’t touch each other while doing the gestures.
•
Show the flashcards to remind the pupils of the words.
•
Have Max say: Max says (I can jump).
•
Pupils should act out the gesture only when you say “Max says…” before it.
•
When you give the command without saying “Max says…,” pupils should not do
anything.
•
Pupils who do the gesture when you don’t say “Max says…,” or do the wrong
gesture, should sit down.
•
Model the game a few times to give pupils a chance to get used to the rules before
you start playing.
7. Just a Peek
•
Show a covered flashcard with only one corner visible.
•
Ask: What is this?
•
Have pupils guess the word. If they don’t know, reveal another corner.
•
Continue until they get the answer correct, then reveal the whole card.
•
Repeat with all the words.
8. Mime Game
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Mime an action.
•
Have pupils say what you are doing.
•
Have pupils take turns coming to the front of the class and miming an action.
•
Elicit from the pupils: (Name) wants to _____ .
9. Show Me…
•
Play the game with the puppets or items in the classroom.
•
Say: Show me (a red crayon).
•
Have pupils hold up the correct puppet and say: Here is (a red crayon)!
•
Choose a pupil to run the game and say: Show me (a pencil).
