APPENDIX III – Games
1. Point to…
•
Present the flashcards one at a time.
•
Say: Point to…
•
Have pupils point to something (red), or someone who is a (boy).
2. The Cube Game
•
Use the cube on the colors/numbers side.
•
Throw the cube in the air and let it land on the floor.
•
Ask: What color is this?
•
Throw the cube in the air again and ask: How many is this? (Count together with the
pupils)
•
Repeat this a few times.
•
Now, toss the cube to a pupil and ask: What color is it? (Elicit the color of the side
that faces up.)
•
Have the pupil toss the cube to another pupil and ask: How many is this? (Elicit the
number of the side that faces up.)
•
Repeat this until many pupils have had a turn. Alternate asking about the color or
the number.
3. Number/Color Game
•
Show the numbers using the flashcards.
•
Ask: What color is number one? (Elicit: It is red.)
•
Repeat with all the numbers.
•
Ask: What number is blue? (Elicit: It is five.)
•
Repeat with all the colors.
4. Go to Sleep
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Have pupils put their head on the desk and say: Goodnight. Go to sleep!
•
Hide one of the cards and say: Good morning. Wake up!
•
Ask: What’s missing?
•
Have pupils say what is missing. Reveal the card to check the answer.
•
Repeat the game several times and take away a different card each time.
