Jamal’s birthday is today.
Jamal’s mother is happy.
She is making him a big birthday cake.
Jamal’s brother is happy. He is blowing up balloons.

His father isn’t home.
He’s on a trip for work.

“Mom, when is Dad coming home?”
Mom says, “I don’t know, Jamal. Dad has a big birthday gift for you.”

Jamal says, “Hi Dad! Where are you?”
Dad answers, “I’m very far away.”
