skill of identifying patterns.

Say: Open your books to page 191.
•
Ask: What do you see in #1? (Elicit: blue, green, yellow, blue)
What do you see in #2? (Elicit: stand up, sit down, stand up, sit
down)
What do you see in #3? (Elicit: pencil, pencil, bag, pencil)
What do you see in #4? (Elicit: dog, cat, cat, dog)

Say: Put the stickers from sticker page 8 in the correct place to complete the
pattern.
•
Give pupils some time to do this on their own or in pairs.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Review the full pattern in each row. Point to each picture as you elicit the answers.
Ask: What do you see in #1? (Elicit: blue, green, yellow, blue, green, yellow)
Repeat for each row.
Phonemic Awareness
•
Use the Course Book page to practice identifying beginning sounds.
•
Say: Open your books to page 192.
•
Have pupils "read" the pictures across each row out loud or to a
partner to review the words. Pupils should use their finger to follow
the pictures as they move from left to right.
•
Say: Circle all the pictures that end with the sound you hear.
1. Circle the words that begin with /r/.
2. Circle the words that begin with /n/.
3. Circle the words that begin with /f/.
4. Circle the words that begin with /t/.

Reveal to check answers.
•
Say: Look at #1. Which pictures did you circle? (Elicit: red, run, roof)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words ‘red, run, roof’? (Elicit:
