Go around the room and have Max ask different pupils different questions:
How are you? (Elicit: I am fine, thank you.)
How old are you? (Elicit: I am _____ years old.)
Do you like to (swim)? (Elicit: I like to (swim). / I don’t like to (swim).
Are you a (boy/girl)? (Elicit: Yes, I am a (boy). / No, I am not a (boy).)

Sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It” (song #1.21) and have the pupils do the
gestures.
Vocabulary
Review

Review the vocabulary using the classroom poster or by showing the flashcard:
pupils, friends, boy, girl, teacher, crayons, glasses, pencil, book, chair, bag, poster,
window, hat, flower, cat, frog, dog.
Ask: Where is this? (Elicit: This is a classroom.)
Ask: What do you see in the classroom?
Have pupils come to the board to point and say: I see (a) pupils/friends, boys and
girls, teacher, crayons, glasses, pencils, books, chairs, bags, poster, windows, hat,
flowers, cats (Silly Billy), frog (Grib), dog, Max.
Ask: How many (pencils) do you see?
Ask: What colors are the (pencils)?
