Ask: Look at the big picture. Who do you see? (Elicit: I see the
teacher and the pupils.)

How many pupils do you see? (Elicit: 7)
Say: Who is happy? Draw a line from the pupils or teacher who is
happy to the happy face.
Repeat for sad, angry, and surprised.

Reveal to check answers.
•
Ask: Who feels surprised in the big picture? (Elicit: The girl feels surprised.)
Repeat for all the emotions.

Ask: What happens if I take away /r/ and say /s/?
Say together with the pupils: /s/ /un/ ‘sun’
Tell pupils that ‘run’ and ‘sun’ are rhyming words because they have the same
ending sound /un/ (use L1 when needed).
Say: Listen to the words. Mark in the yellow box (YES) if the words rhyme. Mark
X in the green box (NO) if the words don’t rhyme.
