Toss the cube to a pupil and have Max ask: How old are you?
The pupil responds: I am _____ years old.
The pupil tosses the cube back to you and you respond: Thank you.
Repeat with a few other pupils.
Now, have the pupil toss the cube to another pupil and ask: How old are you?
The pupil responds (I am _____ years old.) and asks a different pupil.
Repeat until many pupils have had a turn.

Say: Open your books to the candles on sticker page 5. Ask:

Have pupils put candles on the cake based on how old they are.
•
Reveal to show possible answer.

Have pupils say to a friend in the class: Happy birthday! How old are you?

The friend responds: I am _____ years old. How old are you?
Say: Open your books to page 94.
Ask: Look at the picture. What do you see? (Elicit vocabulary: I see
(a) birthday, family, dad, sister, mom, brothers, gift, poster,
cake, hat, balloons.)

Ask: Look at (dad). What’s missing? (Elicit: gift)
Say: Put the stickers from sticker page 6 in the correct place.
Repeat for all the family members.

Say: Look at the picture. What does (dad) have? (Elicit: a gift)
Ask: Who has a (poster)? (Elicit: Sister)
