Performance Task
•
Say: Open your books to page 63.
•
Say: Point to the (cat).
•
Repeat with all the pictures (flowerpot, washing machine, chair,
truck, truck).
Say:
Color the pictures.
Cut out the pictures on the dotted lines only. Do not cut on the red lines.
Make the finger puppets by gluing the strip to make a ring.

Give the pupils some time to make the puppets.
•
While the pupils are working, walk around, point to the pictures, and ask:

What is this? (Elicit: This is (a flowerpot).)
What color is your (flowerpot)? (Elicit based on how the pupils have colored:
(The flowerpot) is (red).)
After the lesson, have pupils save their puppets in the envelope in the back of the
book to use again.
NOTE
Alternatively, pupils can glue the pictures onto sticks to create stick puppets.
Use the Performance Task Rubric in Appendix V b to assess the pupil’s work.
Game

Show Me… (game #9)
Play the game with the puppets the pupils have made: cat, flowerpot, washing
machine, chair, truck, pillow.
Say: Show me a (flowerpot).
Have pupils hold up the correct puppet and say: Here is a (flowerpot).
Choose a pupil to run the game and say: Show me a (cat).
