• Call on pupils to read out the rhyming words.
• Have pupils come to the board and write the two rhyming words from each row so that all
pupils can check their work.
• Point out the different spelling patterns that make identical sounds: (buy, sky; date, eight;
cheese, please; too, you).

Ask pupils if they know of other stories with genies and/or magic carpets. Ask pupils to recall how
