5. Talk Together
• Say: Imagine that you met a genie, what would you wish/ask for? Model by saying: I want
to learn to speak Arabic. Pupils then say: The teacher wants to learn to speak Arabic.
Refer pupils to the Language Focus box and point out the s in third person singular. Remind
the pupils of the use of the s in third person singular when they learned to say where Amir
lives. Explain again that the s is added to verbs when we are talking about he/she/it.
Elicit from pupils some possible wishes, e.g. to have a baby brother/sister; to fly in an
airplane; to play the guitar; to learn how to cook; to play basketball etc.
Invite a pupil to the front of the class and have him/her share a wish using: I want (to)...The
class repeats the wish by saying: He/she wants (to)...
Invite two more pupils to the front of the class and have them first tell what they want using
I want (to)...and then what their friend wants by using He/She wants (to)....
Draw a table on the board with the following categories:

Ask who has a wish that is connected to sports? Have pupils tell the class what
they wished for using the structure: I want (to)...
