1. Listen and Chant
• Play CD Track 19 and have pupils chant aloud. Have pupils then read the text silently and

circle the question.
Explain the word need in L1 and/or ask pupils what they need to bring to the English
lesson every day. Ask: Who needs help? (Amir)
Have pupils underline the rhyming words (go, know). Point out that they sound the same,
but do not look the same. Ask pupils what letters they don’t hear in the word know. (k and
w)
Ask where they think Henry and Lucy will go.
Have pairs or groups read the chant.

stickers. Place the word cards next to them, having pupils repeat after you.
Teach the new words. (See Introduction: Teaching New Words and Lexical Chunks).
Have pupils point to the words that begin with the /p/, /s/, /b/ sounds.
Play the Memory Game (Game 6).
Remove the cards from the board. Write on the board: I can cut with _______. I can draw
with _____. I can write on _____. I can write with a ______. I can paint a picture with
______. I can stick pictures on paper with _____.
