1. Read and Follow
•
Write on the board: Let's go on a ride! Explain the meaning of a ride at an amusement
park, pointing out the rides depicted on the title page.
•
Call on two pupils to read the roles of Henry and Lucy aloud.
a. Have pupils look at the maze. Explain that they are to follow the words on the maze
that relate to A Desert Adventure. They can copy the words into their notebooks.
•
Have pupils work in pairs to complete the task. Encourage them to look through their
books and refer to Unit 2 or to the glossary.
•
Have one pupil read out the answers (mirror, magic carpet, market, fruit, glue, paper,
flute, crayons, dates, tent, camels, water, drum, sand, magic lamp) while pupils check
their work.
b. Ask what they found at the end of the maze. (magic lamp)
c. Have pupils fill in the missing words. (1. fruit (accept any fruit too), 2. glue,
3. accept all logical answers, 4. tent, 5. flute, 6. drum, 7. sand)
