strip. (They are hiding; they are dancing and singing…)
Say: Look at the picture in frame 1. What are Captain Pete and the twins doing? Elicit
a full sentence response: They are hiding. Practice asking more questions related to
each of the frames in the comic strip, reviewing the structure: What are they doing?
They are… (v + ing).
Point out the parrot in frame 4. Ask: What is he doing? Elicit a full sentence response:
He is holding a map.
Point out the Language Focus box. Explain in L1 that when we talk about something
that is happening right now we use am is or are and add -ing to the verb.
Have pupils do the activity in pairs.
