the board. Have pupils scan the comic strip to find the words and point to them in their
books.
Read aloud the incomplete sentences and tell pupils to keep them in mind when
reading.
a. Have pupils read one frame at a time. Pose questions for each frame and have
pupils underline the answers in the text. Then discuss the answers with the class.
Frame 1:
Where are Henry, Lucy and Captain Pete? (on the pirate ship)
Why do they have to be quiet? (They don’t want the pirates to hear them.)
Why do they hide? (They don’t want the pirates to see them.)
How do they know the pirates are happy? (they are singing and dancing)
Frame 2:
Who is rich? (the pirates)
Where did the pirates hide the treasure box? (on an island)
How will Henry, Lucy and Captain Pete react? (they will be surprised)
Frame 3:
What is the problem? (They don’t know where the island is; there are many islands.)
Frames 4-5:
What is the parrot holding in his mouth? (a map)
The Pirate Adventure
This is the map to the treasure. I can read it. Look, there is the
island in the middle of the sea. Now we can find the treasure! We
can build Green Town again! But, how will we get to the island?
