Have pupils describe the picture.
Put the following word and picture cards on the board: starfish, seahorse, turtle,
octopus, coral
Invite five pupils to come to the board and choose a card. Tell pupils to listen to Henry,
Lucy, Pete and the octopus as they go underwater and describe what they see. Each
time a sea creature is mentioned, (octopus, turtle, starfish, seahorse, balloon fish) the
pupil holds up his/her card.
Play CD Track 86.
Review colors by referring pupils to the picture and asking questions. Say: Look at the
picture, what color is the turtle? Etc.
Have pupils come to the board and place the correct color next to each creature
according to the picture.
Play CD Track 86 again and have pupils number the boxes of the sea creatures in the
order they hear them. (octopus, corals, turtle, starfish, seahorse, striped fish, balloon
fish)
Listening Comprehension script
Octopus: Come. Hold on to one of my arms and I will take you underwater to find the
pirate ship.
Henry:
Wow! You have many arms.
Octopus: Yes, I am an octopus. I have eight arms.
Lucy:
But you are a purple octopus.
Octopus: So what? Let's go find the pirate ship.
