Have pupils look at the comic strip and say who the characters are. (Lucy, Henry and
Captain Pete)
Play CD Track 83. Ask pupils: Where is Captain Pete? (on his ship) Why is Captain
Pete calling for help? (He is tied up.) What does Captain Pete want Henry and Lucy to
help him do? (to get to the pirate ship and find the treasure)
Have pupils report that Henry and Lucy are now on Captain Pete’s ship. Ask pupils if
they remember how Henry and Lucy got to the ship. (At the end of Lesson 1, Princess
Meg appears and puts them “into” the story.)
Have pupils read Frame 3 and underline all the times the expression have to appears.
(3) Write have to on the board and explain in L1. Have pupils count and say how many
things Captain Pete has to do.
Have pupils read Captain Pete’s last line. Elicit that he wants to get to the pirate ship.
Ask if pupils have any idea how he can get there.
Have three pupils read aloud the roles of Lucy, Henry and Captain Pete.
3. Read and Match
a. Tell pupils that Captain Pete, Henry and Lucy need to get to the pirate ship to get the
treasure back. Ask pupils to suggest ideas as to how they might get to the pirate ship.
Accept all answers.
• Ask pupils to talk about any dangers they know connected to being at sea. Elicit and
write pupils’ suggestions on the board.
• Explain that one of the dangers is sharks. Put the word and picture card for shark on
the board.
