Savannas are areas of grasslands with scattered trees. All savannas have a wet and a dry
season. Savannas can be found in Central Africa (Kenya), America and the north and east of
South America (Brazil). People who live in savannas are nomads. They travel from place to
place with their animals, traveling to sources of water and plants.

Have pupils look at the picture and say what is next to Mr. Moon. (a newspaper)
Place the word and picture card of newspaper on the board. Ask pupils what
newspapers their families read. Ask what information can be found in a newspaper.
Ask who works for a newspaper. Place the word card reporter on the board and have
pupils repeat it after you. Ensure that pupils understand the meaning by asking them
to translate it to L1. Elicit that a reporter writes for a newspaper or a magazine.
Explain that many professions in English end with -er. Write other examples on the
board of professions with -er. E.g. teacher - A teacher teaches; driver - A driver drives;
writer - a writer writes
