Do you remember?
Ask: Why are the pandas hungry? (There are not enough bamboo trees.)
Why aren’t there enough bamboo trees? (People cut down the bamboo trees to build houses.)
Write the words cut down on the board. Explain the meaning.
Ask: How did Henry and Lucy get to the forest in the mountains? (The flying dragon took them
there on his back.) What things did they see on their way up to the mountains? (a river, a village,
a mountain, farms, etc.)
1. Listen and Chant

Play CD Track 49 and chant together with pupils.
Have pupils read silently and circle the word they. Ask pupils who the word they refers
to. (the pandas)
Have pupils underline all words that end with the letter y. (way, every day, hungry,
play) Ask which word doesn't rhyme. (hungry) Have pupils read aloud those words
that do rhyme. (way, every day, play)
2. Match and Write
• Have pupils read the sentences and copy them to the correct picture. (Kids: We are
here to help you, but we don’t know what to do. Pandas: Don’t cut down bamboo
trees. We need to eat bamboo leaves.)
