7. Listen Chant
• Play CD Track 44 and have the whole class chant together.
• Have individual pupils read the chant aloud.
8. Match and Write
• Ask pupils to share any experiences they have in baking cakes or cookies, using L1 as
necessary. Ask pupils what ingredients are used in making cookies. Elicit: sugar, eggs,
butter (oil, margarine) flour, jam and place the words on the board. Ask what else is needed
when baking. Elicit: oven, cup, bowl and place these words on the board. Ask what we do
with the ingredients. Elicit: mix and place the word card on the board.
• Have pupils complete the matching activity individually.
• Check the answers with them, practicing the new words and translating to L1 if necessary.
(1. cup, 2. oven, 3. flour, 4. egg, 5. bowl, 6. mix, 7. sugar, 8. jam, 9. turn on, 10. water)
9. Listen and Mark
• Tell pupils that they are going to listen to someone teaching a child how to bake cookies.
Point out the list of ingredients and the boxes provided for marking each ingredient as they
hear it being mentioned.
