in a basket. (True) There are people with masks in their hands. (False) There are black and
white kites in the sky. (False)
• Have pupils sit in pairs and take turns making statements about the picture, some true and
some false, pointing out the place in the picture that shows that the statement is true or
false.
4. Read and Complete
• Ask pupils to predict who they believe will help Henry and Lucy save the pandas. (Accept
all answers). Encourage pupils to think of things or people that they see in the picture who
might be able to help the kids get to the forest where the pandas are.
• Play CD Track 43. Ask pupils what new information they now have. (They now know that
the magic dragon will help them find the pandas.) Ask pupils to point out the frame in the
comic where they found this information. (Frame 7) Pupils can now complete the sentence.
• Ask for volunteers to read the comic strip aloud, in front of the class playing the roles of
Lucy and Henry.
5. Think and Mark
• Ask pupils to read the sentence silently and select the best answer.
• Have pupils explain their choices. Any answer that can be explained is acceptable.
6. Read and Say
• Write the words time, kite and white on the board.
• Remind pupils that the letter /e/ at the end of a word is sometimes "magic". It is silent and
causes the vowel before it to "say its name". Have pupils read the words.
