Pupils can look at their name cards to compare.

Teach and sing “ABC Song” (song #1.42)
•
Point to each letter on the ABC poster as you sing.
The Letter Cc

Show 'classroom' flashcard and ask: What is this? (Elicit: This is a classroom.)
•
Teach the new vocabulary using the flashcards.
Present each card one at a time and say the word: cake, cat, clown, camp,
crayons.
Have pupils repeat the words.

Ask: What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words 'classroom, cake, cat,
clown, camp, crayons'? (Elicit: /k/)
•
Show the letter Cc flashcards and say: The letter is C and the sound is /k/.
•
Have the pupils repeat.
Ask: Look at your name cards. Does anyone's name begin with the letter C?
Song

Teach and sing “Cat in the Classroom” (song #1.43)
•
Clap along with the song when prompted and encourage pupils to clap with you.
Writing

Use the ABC poster to teach the new vocabulary: big, small
Do a gesture to illustrate each word. Have pupils repeat the words and gestures.
Explain that every letter in the alphabet has a big letter and a small letter (Use L1
if needed). Show the big and small letters on the ABC poster.
Explain that big letters are used at the beginning of people's names. Have pupils
point to the first letter of their names on their name cards.
Show the house. Ask: What is this? (Elicit: This is a house.)
Point to the roof and ask: What is this? (Elicit: This is the roof.)
•
Remind pupils that English is written from left to right and from top to bottom.
•
Show or draw an empty letter house.
