Stop Me When… (game #6)
Play the game to review and practice the words: ball, tree, help, house, friend,
yard, play, family, mother, father, brother, sister, baby.
Teach the new vocabulary word by saying the word and gesture. Have the pupils
repeat: stop
Say: Stop me when you see (a house).
Start showing the flashcards one at a time. Keep showing the flashcards until the
pupils shout "Stop!"
Ask: What/Who is this? (Elicit: This is (a house).)
Repeat with all the words.

Show flashcards and ask:
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words tree/two/ten? (Elicit:
/t/)
Teach the new lexical chunk "the same" through the context of a question (use L1
if needed to explain the meaning). Ask: Do you have the same sound /t/ in your
language?
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words sister/seven/sit down?
(Elicit: /s/)
Do you have the same sound /s/ in your language?
Teach the new lexical chunk "(at) the end" through the context of a question (use
L1 if needed to explain the meaning). Ask: What sound do you hear at the end of
the words ball/girl/purple? (Elicit: /l/)
Do you have the same sound /l/ in your language?
What sound do you hear at the end of the words doctor/father/four? (Elicit: /r/)
Do you have the same sound /r/ in your language?
