Go around the room and have Max ask different pupils:
Hello. What is your name? (Elicit: My name is…)
Are you a boy or a girl? (Elicit: I am a boy/girl.)
Introduce a new greeting:
Ask pupils what they say in their language when they want to ask how someone
is, and how to answer.
Tell them that in English you say: How are you? I am fine, thank you.
Use your fingers to show pupils how the question is made up of three words, and
the answer of 5 words. Count on your fingers, adding a finger for each word as
you say the chunks.
Introduce yourself to Max:
Say: Hello. How are you?
Max says: I am fine, thank you. How are you?
Say: I am fine, thank you.
Have Max repeat the dialogue with a few pupils.
