21. Max Says
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Have pupils stand up. Make sure there is some distance between the pupils so that
they won’t touch each other while doing the actions.
•
Have Max say: Max says (jump).
•
Pupils should act out the gesture only when you say “Max says…” before it.
•
When you give the command without saying “Max says…,” pupils should not do
anything.
•
Pupils who do the gesture when you don’t say “Max says…,” or do the wrong
gesture, should sit down.
•
Model the game a few times to give pupils a chance to get used to the rules before
you start playing.
22. Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Point to a flashcard and ask: Do you like (cake)?
•
If pupils like what you say, they should put their thumbs up and say: Yes, I like
(cake).
•
If pupils don't like what you say, they should put their thumbs down and say: No, I
don't like (cake).
•
Repeat for all the words.
23. BINGO
•
Have pupils fill out the BINGO board by choosing 9 words and writing them in any
order in the boxes.
•
Hand out BINGO chips or small pieces of paper for pupils to use during the game.
•
Randomly select a word. Say: Look for _____ .
•
•
Write the word on the board.
If pupils have the word on their board, they cover it with a BINGO chip.
Repeat by selecting another word.
When a pupil gets three in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) the pupil
must raise their hand and call: BINGO!
Have the pupils read you which three words were covered and check them
against the words on the board.
Have pupils clear their boards of chips.
Reset the game and play again by calling the words in a different random order.
You may choose to have the winning pupil run the next round and call out the
words.
