APPENDIX III – Games
1. Finger Game
•
Play the game to practice the numbers.
•
Hold up fingers and ask pupils to tell you the correct number. Ask: How many?
•
Then, say a number and ask pupils to hold up the correct number of fingers.
2. Look for Your Name
•
Place some (6-8) of the pupils' name cards at the front of the room so the names are
visible to the pupils.
•
Call these pupils to the front of the class and have Max ask each pupil: Hello, what is
your name? (Elicit: My name is _____ .)
•
Have the pupil approach the name cards and collect their own by recognizing their
name on the card.
•
Have Max practice this greeting until all the pupils have collected their name cards.
3. Go to Sleep
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Have pupils put their head on the desk and say: Goodnight. Go to sleep!
•
Hide one of the cards and say: Good morning. Wake up!
•
Ask: What’s missing?
•
Have pupils say what is missing. Reveal the card to check the answer.
•
Repeat the game several times and take away a different card each time.
4. Number/Picture Game
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Write the numbers 1-10 below each picture.
•
Say a word that is on one of the flashcards. Tell the pupils to look at the number
under the picture and say the number while holding up the correct number of
fingers.
•
Alternate by you saying a number and the pupils replying with the corresponding
word.
•
After a few turns, shuffle the words on the board so that the numbers change.
