End of the Year Certificate Party
•
Sign the End of the Year Certificates and write words of encouragement
on each.
•
Call pupils one by one to the front of the room and give out the certificate
for successfully completing this year of English language learning.
•
Have Max shake each pupil’s hand and say: Well done! Congratulations!
(Have pupils reply: Thank you.)
•
Compliment pupils on doing a fantastic job.
•
Have pupils look at the certificate’s first box. Say: Look at the pictures. What can you
do?
Go through each picture with the pupils and review with the pupils all the things
you have learned together this year (use L1 as needed). Say: I can…

introduce myself and greet someone

follow the teacher’s instructions in English

ask and answer questions

understand and retell a story

sing songs and chants in English

talk about things I like and don’t like

write all the letters of the ABC

read words, sentences, and short stories

Have pupils look at the certificate’s second box. Ask: Which stories did we read this
year? (Elicit the names of the stories: Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, The
Happy Tree House, Together is Better, The Little Red Hen, What Am I?, and The Wind
and the Sun)
•
Pass out some candy, a small treat, or stickers to celebrate the end of the year.
•
Tell pupils how proud you are of them and how well they speak English!
