Jumping on the Bed

Say: Open your Epic Stories to the story on page 5.
•
Read the story again, page by page. While reading, stop at each page and
ask questions to ensure pupils comprehend and to elicit vocabulary that
the pupils have learned.
•
Do gestures to act out the story and have pupils copy you.
•
Have pupils join you in saying repetitive lines such as "(Five) little monkeys jumping
on the bed…" and "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

Do gesture for ‘it’s getting late’ (tap your wrist where you would wear a watch)
Point and ask: Who is this? (Elicit: Mother Monkey)

Five little monkeys get ready to sleep.
They wash their faces and brush their teeth.
Teach the new vocabulary words "get, they, and their" through the context of the
story (use L1 if needed to explain the meanings).
Do gestures for 'sleep,' ‘wash their faces’ and ‘brush their teeth’
Ask: How many monkeys do you see? (Count together and elicit: 5)
