Say: Look at #8.

Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see rain, clouds, a kid/boy, an umbrella.)

Ask: What's the weather in the picture? (Elicit: Rainy)
Ask (use L1 if needed): How do you know? (Elicit any logical response: I see rain
clouds. / The boy has an umbrella. / The boy is wet., etc.)

Say: Read and color the words that rhyme. Color each pair of rhyming words in a
different color.
•
Give pupils a few minutes to do this on their own or with a partner.
•
Ask: What rhyming words did you find? (Elicit the pairs of words one at a time:
fun/run, bit/hit, van/can, wet/net, bad/dad, six/mix)
What color did you color the balloons? (For each pair of words, elicit the color
the pupils used)

Say: Open your Course Books to page 157. Look at #9.

Point to the title and read together: The King and Queen
•
Say: Read the story.
•
Read the story together with the pupils and have pupils follow with their finger in
their Course Book:
This is Alex.
Alex is a king.
He is tall.
He has a big (nose) and small (eyes).
This is Mary.
Mary is a queen.
She is not tall.
She has long (hair) and a small (mouth).

Say: Match the pictures to the parts of the story that describe them.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Point to each picture and have different pupils read the paragraphs that match them
out loud or read them together as a class.
•
Say: Look at #10.
•
Say: Mark under “Yes” or “No” based on what happened in the story.
•
Read the sentences together with the pupils and determine if the sentence is
true or not.
Say: Look in the text to help you.
