Say: Open your Course Books to page 152. Look at #6.

Say: Trace then write the big and small letters Vv.
•
While pupils are working, walk around checking that pupils are tracing carefully on
the lines and writing the letters from left to right and top to bottom.
•
Say: Look at #7.
•
Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see (a) video, van, vet)
•
What sound do you hear in the beginning of the words? (Elicit: /v/)
Point to the letter Vv. Trace the letters with your finger on the board. Have the pupils
trace in their Course Books.
As you trace, say together with the pupils: The letter is V and the sound is /v/.
•
Say: Write the first letter of the word under each picture. Write the big letter and
small letter.
•
While pupils are working, walk around checking that pupils are writing the letter
accurately.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Point to 'video' and ask: What is this? (Elicit: video)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word 'video'? (Elicit: /v/)
What letter makes the sound /v/? (Elicit: the letter V)
Repeat for the other pictures.
NOTE
•
Challenge strong pupils (or a strong class) to write the whole word "vet," by sounding
the phonemes of the word out together.
•
Say: Look at #8.
•
Have pupils point to and read the words before doing the activity.
•
Say: Listen and draw a line to connect the words you hear.
