Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down (game #22)
•
Play the game to practice the lexical chunk and vocabulary: Today is (rainy).
•
Show the flashcards: hot, cold, rain, sun, clouds, wind.
Point to a picture and say: Today is (cold).
If what you say is correct based on the picture you pointed to, pupils should put
their thumbs up and say: Yes, today is cold.
If what you say is not correct, pupils should put their thumbs down and say: No,
today is (sunny).
Repeat several times to practice the words and lexical chunk.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 150. Look at #1.
•
Point to #1 and ask: What's the weather today? (Read and elicit: Today is sunny.)
•
Say: Trace and write to complete the sentences.
•
Give pupils a few minutes to do this on their own or with a partner.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Say: Look at #2. What's the weather today? (Call on a pupil to read the sentence or
elicit from the whole class: Today is rainy.)
Repeat for #3-6.
•
Say: Look at #2.
•
Say: Listen and circle the correct picture.
1. Circle the scarf.
2. Circle the umbrella.
3. Circle jacket.
4. Circle the tree.
