Snakes and Ladders (game #13)

Say: Open your Course Books to page 141.
•
Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see (a) tail, elephant, monkey, face, nose, gorilla,
ears, hair, kangaroo, feet, mouth, alligator.)

Have pupils point to the pictures and words as you elicit.
What words do you see? (Elicit and read the words together with the pupils:
dog, hand, man, friend, tall, legs, arm, rest, net, long)
Explain the rules of the game to the pupils:
Say: Play the game with a friend.
Have pupils play in pairs. Each pupil should have a game piece in a different color
than their partner.
Show pupils where to start and where to finish.
Throw the dice.
Have the pupils say the number they got on the dice.
Have the pupils count out loud as they move forward according to the number on
the dice.
Say: When you land on a square, say what you see or read the word.
Say: If you land on a ladder square, go up. If you land on a snake square, go
down.
The winner is the one who reaches the finish line first.
