Game

BINGO (game #23)

Play the game to review the vocabulary: lost, last, let, wet, mom, from, bad, had, fast,
soft, it, bit, best, rest, him, swim, not, top.
•
Say: Look at #8.
Say: Choose any 9 words from task #7 and write them in any order in the boxes.
Write one word in each box.
•
Hand out BINGO chips or small pieces of paper for pupils to use during the game.
•
Randomly select a word. Say: Look for ____ .
•
•
Write the word on the board.
If pupils have the word on their board, they cover it with a BINGO chip.
Repeat by selecting another word.
When a pupil gets three in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) the pupil
must raise their hand and call: BINGO!
Have the pupils read you which three words were covered and check them
against the words on the board.
Have pupils clear their boards of chips.
Reset the game and play again by calling the words in a different random order.
You may choose to have the winning pupil run the next round and call out the words.
Reading and Writing
Epic Stories
•
Say: Open your Epic Stories to page 94.
•
Point to the word family “-an” and say it together with the pupils: /-an/
•
•
Say: All the words have the sound /-an/.
Point to the vocabulary one at a time and read each word together with the
pupils: plan, pan, fan, woman, man.
Teach the new vocabulary word "plan” (use L1 if needed to explain the meaning).
Say a word and have pupils hold up the correct number of fingers (1-5) to
represent the number of the word. For example, if you say “fan,” pupils should
hold up 3 fingers.
Then, say a number and have pupils say the word that matches the number.
Repeat to practice the words a few times.
Point to the title of the text and read together with the pupils: Dan and Nan
