Say: Open your Course Books to page 136. Look at #5.

Say: Say the words. Circle the letter that makes the sound you hear at the end of
the words.
•
Give pupils a few minutes to complete the page on their own or with a partner.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
If most pupils did not circle the correct letter, review the words and ask:
What sound do you hear at the end of the word? (Elicit the sound)
What letter makes that sound? (Elicit the letter)
The letter is __ and the sound is /__/.
If necessary, repeat for any other letters most pupils struggled with.

Say: Look at #6.
•
Say: Look at the pictures. Write the missing letter and read the words.
Do the first one with the pupils. Point to #1 and ask: Who is this? (Elicit: This is
Dad.)
Ask: What sound do you hear at the end of the word 'dad'? (Elicit: /d/)
Ask: What letter makes the sound /d/? (Elicit: the letter D)
Have pupils write the letter D and read the whole word together: dad

Have different pupils volunteer to read the completed words.

Have pupils read the words out loud as a class or to a partner.
•
