Epic Stories
•
Say: Open your Epic Stories to page 92.
•
Point to #1 and ask: Who do you see? (Elicit: I see
a girl and a boy.)
Ask: What does the boy have? (Elicit: The boy
has a bag.)
Ask: What do you think is in the bag? (Elicit
some responses in English)

Point to the title of the story and read together with the pupils: What's in the Bag?
•
Say: Let's read and find out what is in the bag.
•
Read or play the audio track of the story. Have pupils track the words with their
finger as they read.
•
After finishing the story, ask: What is in the bag? (Elicit: a small dog/a gift)
•
Read the story again, asking different pupils to read each box. Encourage pupils to
use proper intonation as they read the lines.
NOTE
•
Encourage the pupils to read the text several times. You may choose to assign the
text to the pupils to read to a parent or other adult outside of class.
Reflection
•
Remind the pupils of the different topics and words that were covered by having a
volunteer (or volunteers) pupil present their completed self-portrait drawing (Course
Book page 131) to the class. Ask, or have pupils in the class ask:
What is your name? (Elicit: My name is…)
Are you a boy or a girl? (Elicit: I am a boy/girl.)
How old are you? (Elicit: I am ___ years old.)
What color eyes/hair do you have? (Elicit: I have ___ eyes/hair.)
