Say: Look at #8.

Ask: Do you like cats?
Elicit the answer by pointing to a word in each column of the table. Practice
eliciting both the positive and negative answers: I like cats. / I don't like cats.
Elicit more sentences by repeating the question to ask about the different words
(cake, snake, milk, books). Have pupils create and say sentences using the table,
based on their preference.

Say: Look at #9.
•
Say (use L1 if needed): Now, choose one thing you like and one thing you don't like
from #8. Trace and write to complete the sentences.

Pupils can use the words in the table in task #8 to help them.
While pupils are working, walk around the room and ask based on the words the
pupils have chosen: Do you like…? (Elicit: Yes, I like... / No, I don't like...)
The Story: What Am I?
Act It Out
•
Say: Open your Epic Stories to the story on page 77.
•
Divide the class into groups of four. Assign each group an animal: alligator, monkey,
gorilla, and elephant.
•
Read the story What Am I? (or play the audio file). Have pupils follow along with
the story.
•
Encourage pupils to produce the vocabulary they learned.
•
Pupils should act out their animal from the story.
•
After finishing the story, ask (use L1 if needed):
Do you like the game What Am I? (Elicit: yes/no)
Do you like to play games with your friends? What games do you like to play?
