Complete the page according to the instructions on page 15.

Read the words together with the pupils before they trace and write on their own.
Sound out each word before putting the words together: wet, swim.
Say: Point to the letter W at the beginning of the word “wet.” Point to the letter
W in the middle of the word “swim.”

Show 'wet' flashcard and ask: What is this? (Elicit: wet). Ask:
How many sounds does the word ‘wet’ have? (Elicit: 3)
Say and use your fingers to count the sounds: /w/ /e/ /t/ ‘wet’
Have the pupils say the sounds and count with you.
What letters make the sounds? (Elicit: W, E, T)
Ask: Take away /w/ and add /n/, what do you hear? (Elicit: /n/ /e/ /t/)
Say together with the pupils: net
Show 'rest' flashcard and ask: What is this? (Elicit: rest). Ask:
How many sounds does the word ‘rest’ have? (Elicit: 4)
Say and use your fingers to count the sounds: /r/ /e/ /s/ /t/ ‘rest’
Have the pupils say the sounds and count with you.
What letters make the sounds? (Elicit: R, E, S, T)
Ask: Take away /r/ and add /t/, what do you hear? (Elicit: /t/ /e/ /s/ /t/)
Say together with the pupils: test
Show 'arm' flashcard and ask: What is this? (Elicit: arm). Ask:
How many sounds does the word ‘arm’ have? (Elicit: 3)
Say and use your fingers to count the sounds: /a/ /r/ /m/ ‘arm’
Have the pupils say the sounds and count with you.
What letters make the sounds? (Elicit: A, R, M)
Add /f/, what do you hear? (Elicit: /f/ /a/ /r/ /m/)
Say together with the pupils: farm
