Say: Open your ABC Notebooks to page 203.
•
Complete the page according to the instructions on page 15.
•
Read the words together with the pupils before they trace and write on their own.
Sound out each letter before putting the words together: rest, farm, star.
Say: Point to the letter R at the beginning of the word “rest.” Point to the letter
R in the middle of the word “farm.” Point to the letter R at the end of the word
“star.”
Course Book

Say: Open your Course Books to page 114. Look at #5.
•
Explain the difference between “a” and “an.” Explain to pupils that you say “an”
before a word that begins with the sounds /a, e, i, o, u/, and for all the rest you say
“a” (use L1 if needed).
•
Together with the pupils, read the words in the word bank and write a/an. Say:
Write “a” or “an” before each word.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Say: Look at #6.
•
Ask: Who do you see? (Elicit: I see a girl/Jamie.)
•
Ask: What does Jamie (the girl) have? (Elicit: a ball, an egg, a hat, an apple, and a
cat.)
If necessary, remind pupils again when "a" and "an" are used.
Have pupils create sentences about Jamie by using the table. (Elicit, for example:
Jamie has a ball. / Jamie has an egg.)
Call on different pupils to read create different sentences.

Say: Look at #7.
•
Say: Write one sentence with “a” and one sentence with “an.” Use the table in task
#6 to help you.
