Say: Open your Course Books to page 101. Look at #3.

Have pupils "read" the pictures across each row to review the words. Pupils should
use their finger to follow the pictures as they move from left to right.

Say: Circle the picture of the word that does not begin with the same sound.
•
Have pupils complete the task on their own or with a partner.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Say: Which picture did you circle in #1? (Elicit: Internet)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word 'Internet'? (Elicit: /i/)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words 'lemon, library'? (Elicit:
/l/)
Repeat for rows #2-4.

Say: Look at #4.
•
Say: Listen and write the letter that makes the sound you hear on the correct line.
1. /f/
2. /s/
3. /i/
4. /b/
5. /p/
6. /e/
7. /h/
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Ask: What letter did you write in #1? (Elicit: the letter F)
8. /l/
What words begin with the letter F? (Elicit: fan, father, five, etc.)
Repeat with the other letters.
9. /m/

Say: Open your Course Books to page 102.
•
Review the words before giving pupils some time to do the task on their own or
with a partner.
•
Say: Circle the letter that makes the ending sound of each word. Write the letter.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Ask: What sound do you hear at the end of the word ‘bedroom’? (Elicit: /m/)
What letter makes the sound /m/? (Elicit: the letter M)
Repeat for all the words.
