There are four cows in the kitchen.
There are five monkeys in the bedroom.
There are six cats in the bathroom.
There are seven hens in the living room.

Ask: Where are the cows? (Elicit: The cows are in the kitchen.)
Ask: What is in the kitchen? (Elicit: There are four cows in the kitchen.)

Say: Look at #2.

Say: Listen and draw a line to make a sentence. Use a different color for each
sentence.
Do the first one with the pupils. Say: 1. There are four white cows in the kitchen.
Have pupils draw a line from the number four to the color white to the cow and
finally to the kitchen.
2. There are five brown monkeys in the bedroom.
3. There are six orange cats in the bathroom.
4. There are seven red hens in the living room.

Ask: What other sentences can you make?
Elicit as many sentences from the pupils as possible. Sentences must begin with
“There are…” and include a number, a color, an animal, and a room of the house.
Follow the path of the sentences with your finger on the board, and have pupils
follow in their Course Books.
Phonemic Awareness

Show 'lemon' flashcard and ask: How many parts does the word 'lemon' have?
(Elicit: 2)
Say and clap to count the syllables: /le/ /mon/ 'lemon'
Have the pupils say the syllables and count with you.
Repeat for 'Internet' (3 syllables), 'library' (2), ‘read’ (1), ‘window’ (2), 'wheat' (1),
‘bathroom’ (2), 'bread' (1).
