Point to the letter Pp. Trace the letters with your finger on the board. Have the pupils
trace in their Course Books.
As you trace, say together with the pupils: The letter is P and the sound is /p/.

Say: Write the first letter of the word under each picture. Write the big letter and
small letter.
•
While pupils are working, walk around checking that pupils are writing the letter
accurately.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Point to 'pan' and ask: What is this? (Elicit: This is a pan.)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word 'pan'? (Elicit: /p/)
What letter makes the sound /p/? (Elicit: the letter P)
Repeat for the other pictures.

Say: Open your ABC Notebooks to page 201.
•
Complete the page according to the instructions on page 15.
•
Read the words together with the pupils before they trace and write on their own.
Sound out each letter before putting the words together: pet, help, camp.
Say: Point to the letter P at the beginning of the word “pet.” Point to the letter
P at the end of the words “help, camp.”
