Say: Open your Course Books to page 82. Look at #1.

Say: Trace then write the big and small letters Hh.
•
While pupils are working, walk around checking that pupils are tracing carefully on
the lines and writing the letters from left to right and top to bottom.
•
Say: Look at #2.
•
Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see (a) hat, happy, house, hand, hen, help.)
•
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words? (Elicit: /h/)
Point to the letter Hh. Trace the letters with your finger on the board. Have the pupils
trace in their Course Books.
As you trace, say together with the pupils: The letter is H and the sound is /h/.
•
Say: Write the first letter of the word under each picture. Write the big letter and
small letter.
•
While pupils are working, walk around checking that pupils are writing the letter
accurately.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Point to 'happy' and ask: How do you feel? (Elicit: I feel happy.)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word 'happy'? (Elicit: /h/)
What letter makes the sound /h/? (Elicit: the letter H)
Repeat for the other pictures.
ABC Notebook
•
Say: Open your ABC Notebooks to page 193.
•
Complete the page according to the instructions on page 15.
•
Read the words together with the pupils before they trace and write on their own.
Sound out each letter before putting the words together: hat, has.
Say: Point to the letter H at the beginning of the words “hat, has.”
