Writing
•

Write a big M and a small m in the house. Be sure to show how to write the letters,
their position within the house, where to begin each line, and the proper direction to
draw them. Say:
•
Look at how big M starts in the roof… and goes into the house. Then starts
again in the roof… goes into the house… into the roof… and then into the
house.
And small m stays in the house.
Trace the big letter M on the board and have pupils write the letter with their finger
in the air or on their desks, then repeat with small letter m.
As you trace, say together with the pupils: The letter is M and the sound is /m/.
