Say: Open your ABC Notebooks to page 197.
•
Ask: What letter is this? (Elicit: the letter L)
•
What sound does the letter L make? (Elicit: /l/)
Say together with the pupils: The letter is L and the sound is /l/.
Say: Find the letter Ll sticker on sticker page 2. Put the sticker on the letter Ll on
page 197 in the ABC Notebook.
Trace and write the big and small letters Ll to complete the page.

Give pupils some time to complete the page independently.

Say: Find the sticker pictures that begin with the sound /l/ on sticker pages 2 and 3
and stick them in the ABC Notebook.

Read the words together with the pupils before they trace and write on their own.
Sound out each letter before putting the words together: let, last.
Teach the new vocabulary words "let" and "last" (use L1 if needed to explain the
meaning).
Say: Point to the letter L at the beginning of the words “let, last.”

Notice any pupils who struggle with fine motor skills.
•
Weaker pupils should be encouraged to circle the target letter with a colored crayon
– if it is in the beginning circle it in green, in the middle in yellow, or at the end in red.
