Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see (a) lemon, listen, lion, lost, list, legs.)

What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words? (Elicit: /l/)
Point to the letter Ll. Trace the letters with your finger on the board. Have the pupils
trace in their Course Books.
As you trace, say together with the pupils: The letter is L and the sound is /l/.
•
Say: Write the first letter of the word under each picture. Write the big letter and
small letter.
•
While pupils are working, walk around checking that pupils are writing the letter
accurately.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Point to 'listen' and ask: What is this? (Elicit: listen)
What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word 'listen'? (Elicit: /l/)
What letter makes the sound /l/? (Elicit: the letter L)
Repeat for the other pictures.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 72. Look at #5.
•
Say: Trace the big letters L in green and the small letters l in blue.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Ask: How many big letters L did you trace in green? (Elicit: 5)
How many small letters l did you trace in blue? (Elicit: 3)

Say: Look at #6.
•
Say: Circle the letter that makes the sound you hear at the end of the words.
•
Have pupils complete the task on their own or with a partner.
•
Reveal to check answers.
•
Ask: What do you see in #1? (Elicit: I see a gorilla.)
What sound do you hear at the end of the word ‘gorilla’? (Elicit: /a/)
Repeat for #2-6.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 73. Look at #7.
•
Say: Match the big letters to the small letters.
