Vocabulary
Game
•
No, No, No, Ha, Ha, Ha (game #15)
Play the game to review the vocabulary: library, clown, classroom, elephant, ant,
book, school, chair, monkey, television.
Present each flashcard one at a time.
Say: I see a (clown).
If what you say is correct, pupils repeat: I see a (clown).
If what you say is incorrect, pupils say: No, no, no, ha, ha, ha!
Demonstrate by showing the ‘library’ flashcard and saying: I see a (television).
Say together with the pupils: No, no, no, ha, ha, ha!
Repeat the game several times with different words.
Ask a pupil to lead the game. Ask the pupil: What do you see?
The pupil can say: I see a _____ . (correct or incorrect response), and the rest of
the class should respond accordingly.
Song
•
Sing “This is the Way We Sit on Our Chairs” (song #1.38) and have pupils do
movements as prompted by the song.
Phonemic Awareness

Show 'crayon' flashcard and ask: How many parts does the word 'crayon' have?
(Elicit: 2)
Say and clap to count the syllables: /crai/ /yon/ 'crayon'
Have the pupils say the syllables and count with you.
Repeat for 'elephant' (3 syllables), 'test' (1 syllable), 'alligator' (4 syllables),
'scissors' (2 syllables), and 'balloon' (2 syllables).
