Introductions and Greetings
Greetings
•
Go around the room and have Max ask different pupils:
Are you a boy or a girl? (Elicit: I am a boy/girl.)
How many brothers/sisters do you have? (Elicit: I have _____ brothers/sisters.)
How do you feel? (Elicit: I feel happy/sad/mad/afraid/surprised.)

If a pupil answers 'sad,' 'mad,' or 'afraid,' ask: What's the matter? (Elicit a
response in L1.)
Song
•
Sing “If You're Happy and You Know It” (song #1.21) to review the emotions and have
pupils do movements as prompted by the song.
Vocabulary
Game
•
Stop Me When… (game #6)
Play the game to review the vocabulary: school, classroom, star, woman, poster,
desk, chair, scissors, pen, book, crayons, ruler.
Teach the new vocabulary word "me" by saying the word and gesturing to
yourself to illustrate the meaning (use L1 if needed to explain the meaning).
Review the words using the flashcards before playing the game.
Say: Stop me when you see (a school).
Start showing the flashcards one at a time. Keep showing the flashcards until the
pupils shout "Stop!"
Ask: What is this? (Elicit: This is (a school).)
Repeat with all the words.
