Review the letter C by showing the Cc flashcard and asking: What is the name of the
letter? (Elicit: the letter C)
What sound does it make? (Elicit: /k/)
What words do you know that begin with the letter C? (Elicit and put the
flashcards up on the board as pupils say the words: classroom, cake, cat, clown,
camp, crayons, etc.)
Say together with the pupils: The letter is C and the sound is /k/.

Say: Today we will learn a new letter.

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards: balloon, book, bag, ball.

Ask: What is this? (Elicit: This is a...)
Ask: What sound do you hear at the beginning of the words? (Elicit: /b/)
Show the letter Bb flashcards and say: The letter is B and the sound is /b/.

Teach the new vocabulary using the flashcards.
Present each card one at a time and say the word: bus, banana.
Have pupils repeat the words.
Ask: How do you say 'banana' in your language? Do you like bananas? (Use L1 if
needed. Elicit an answer in L1. Restate in English to expose I like… / I don't like…)
