The Red Bicycle

Sam wanted a bicycle very much. His friend
David had a bicycle and he rode it to school
every day. Sam really wanted the red bicycle in
the window of the bicycle shop. Every day, Sam
looked at the bicycle. He really wanted it, but he
did not have enough money to buy the bicycle.

“Why don’t you get a job?” said Sam’s mom.
“Ask Mr. Bean if you can help him in his bicycle
shop.” “That’s a great idea,” said Sam. “I can fix
bicycles and earn* money.”

The next day, Sam went to the bicycle shop. “I need a kid like you to help me. I have so
many bicycles to fix,” said Mr. Bean. Sam was very happy. Every day, he went to help
Mr. Bean after school. Soon he had enough money to buy the red bicycle. “Mom,” said
Sam, “I have enough money to buy the red bicycle. I am so excited.”

After school, Sam ran to the bicycle shop. He looked in the window and couldn’t believe
it* – the red bicycle wasn’t there! “Mr. Bean,” said Sam, “where’s the red bicycle? I want
to buy it and it’s not in the window.” “Oh,” said Mr. Bean, “the red bicycle is not for sale*.
I made it for my grandson, Tom. Today it’s his birthday. He always wanted a red bicycle.
It’s his dream. You can buy a blue bicycle or a green bicycle,” said Mr. Bean. Sam
looked at Mr. Bean’s face. Mr. Bean looked so happy.
