Looking at the map
Look at the map of Lakeview Center on page 12. Quickly review what can be seen.
Tell all the students to put their fingers on the cinema.
Give directions by saying things like:
Go straight down State Street. (Students run their fingers along State Street.)
Go to the corner of State Street and Forest Street.
Turn left on Forest Street.
You should see the police station to your right.
When the students get to a place, ask:
Where are you now?
Have different students give simple directions to the class and everyone has to follow along with
their finger to figure out where they will get to.
Curriculum:

3. Let’s Listen! (Track 5) (page 13).
Have the students go to page 225 in their Workbooks.
Say:
You are going to hear the instructions that Kate
receives on her MP3.
You will hear the instructions twice.
First listening (exercise A): Circle the places on the map as you hear them and number
them in the order in which you hear them.
Second listening (exercise B): Using a pencil, trace the route that Tom and Kate need to
follow based on what you hear.
If necessary, play the track a third time so the students can check their answers.
