Where do you think everyone is?
Why do you think no one is there?

Before reading
Say and ask:
Read the first line: where is Kate? (Kate is in her room at home.)
What is she doing? (Kate is doing homework.)
Tom is bored. Find the line in Paragraph 2, that tells us that he is bored. ("Nothing. I’m
bored!" have a student read it out.)
Now read the last line of the text and the SMS message: who are Kate and Tom contacting?
(Professor Sparky, Jack and Amy)
Why are they contacting them? (They are bored and looking for something cool to do.
Maybe Jack and Amy and the professor will have something cool for them to do.)
